8/19/2011 | .375 Lbs | Lauren Billings | Rod and Reel |
In August 2011, John Billings arranged for his two youngest family members to go out on the Possession Limit. It was Lauren’s very first trip, but her dad had been touting her skills as an offshore angler. She insisted on using a Torium 20 for deep dropping because the electric reel “wasn’t sporting enough”.
She ended up catching the littlest fish of the trip, but it turned out to be a species not listed in the state records, and therefore became the first state record two spot seabass. Tipping the scales at a mere 6 ounces, it was not the smallest state record ever caught on the Possession Limit, therefore the official title of “Child Fish Predator” did not have to be reassigned.
