The Red Porgy caught by Mike Capillo in 1996 represented three “firsts”. It was Mike’s first offshore fishing trip, the first Red Porgy we ever caught, and the first state record for the Possession Limit.
On August 4, 2007, members of the Possession Limit fishing team landed 2 more state record Red Porgies within just a few minutes of one another. Rick Boglin caught the first, at 4.43 Lbs. Shortly thereafter, Jared McSpadden caught an even larger one, 6.125 Lbs.
On July 3, 2009; Johnny White made his first drop of the trip and brought up an 8lb 3oz Red Porgy, beating the previous record by over 2lbs and setting the 4th Red Porgy record for the Possession Limit.
