For the summer 2011 fishing season, Mike Luchak purchased an electric motor which mounted on the side of a Penn fishing reel.  It was a less expensive approach to electric reel fishing.  Mike noticed that there were no yellowfin tuna listed in the Electric Reel category of the State Record list.  So during our trip in August 2011, he floated out a chunk bait while using the electric reel.

He immediately hooked up and flipped the switch.  His electric reel didn’t even bog down as he winched the fish to the transom.  However it was not a YFT, instead he landed a 26 Lb 14 Oz Blackfin.  It was a pretty respectable fish, and landed him in the state record book for fourth time.
